Owls

 Well, there were 34 owls in the library today! Several owls wanted to go out tonight, so come in and see the rest of the owls on display before they leave to enjoy the nightlife.

This program was so much fun we decided to have it again.  Working alone or together, children will have a chance to use their imagination and building skills to see what they can create.

Suffolk County Farm Visit...

Well, it certainly looked like everyone enjoyed the wagon ride and feeding the animals. I know goats like to climb, but was that a goat on top of the table? Next time you’re in the library, you’ll need to look for J 636.39 if you fell in love with a goat! That goat got my vote...  Who could resist ponies and horses? Well, check out J 636.1 for books on ponies and horses.

900 Paper Cranes for Hope!

After the horrendous tsunami that devastated Japan, Osh Kosh announced they would donate one article of clothing for every paper crane that was made. The crane, being a symbol of hope was appropriate, so Ann Soper held an Origami Crane workshop which sparked an enthusiastic crowd of families to make cranes at the library. That Saturday, 900 cranes were folded in our community room.  What a colorful display of hope! By the following Friday, a total of 317 cranes were made and mailed to Osh Kosh. Our community really came together and demonstrated how much they care.  

On May 27th children enjoyed an early start of our Summer Reading theme - One World Many Stories, and created carp kites which is a symbol of strength and courage in Japan. On the fifth day of the fifth month Japanese families fly brightly colored carp kites to honor their children and wish them luck for the future.
