Stage 2: Caterpillars

Our Children's Room is currently home to 15 caterpillars!  Check out our photographs below!

A caterpillar is the second stage in the life cycle of a butterfly.  During this stage the caterpillars mostly eat as much as they can and grow very quickly!
When caterpillars grow, they outgrow their exoskeletons (skins)! So they need to molt, which means they shed the skins that they have so they can keep growing.  They do this more than once!

Fun Fact:  After they hatch, caterpillars eat the leaf that their egg was attached to!
